PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Peoria man will serve prison time after he was sentenced for a fatal 2023 hit-and-run in South Peoria, according to the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Friday morning, a Peoria County judge sentenced 41-year-old John Timothy, Jr., to 15 years in prison in connection to the hit-and-run that killed 28-year-old Akeem Alexander.
The crash happened at about 3:30 a.m., according to a call police received from the detection service inside Timothy’s Land Rover, in the 1900 block of West Howett Street.
When officers arrived, they found Alexander lying face down next to a bicycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. However, Timothy and his Land Rover were nowhere in sight.
