DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – County leaders will gather next week to break ground on the Dorchester Heritage Center.

The new state-of-the-art facility will be at 964 Highway 78 in Ridgeville. The ceremony is expected to feature keynote remarks from SC Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver.

Once completed, the site will include an environmentally protected archives vault, a genealogy library, an event and gathering space, and a recording studio to capture and preserve the stories of Dorchester County residents.

Visitors will also be able to travel walking trails, green spaces, and event areas designed to connect history and nature.
