HASLETT — After the defense forced a quick three-and-out to start Haslett's district semifinal against St. Johns on Oct. 31, quarterback Charlie Dutcher wanted to drive the offense down the field and get an early lead.

The coaches and players had talked all week about starting fast — something the Vikings didn't do in the regular season against the Redwings while slugging their way to a tough 21-13 win. And after a holding penalty and a sack put Haslett well behind the sticks, it looked like the script would play out similar.
