INDIANAPOLIS – Blackhawk Christian's James Neebes needed just 30 minutes to turn a state finals nail-biter into a runaway Braves championship on Friday night.
The junior forward broke open the scoreless game 10 minutes into the second half and then added two insurance goals in the final four minutes of regulation to give No. 2 Blackhawk Christian (19-0-4) a 3-0 victory over No. 10 Indianapolis Scecina Memorial (17-5-1) and its first Class A boys soccer state title.
"It feels amazing, we've never done this before," Neebes said. "The excitement is in the air. I mean, being the first Blackhawk Christian soccer team to do this – that's just so special for us as a team."
