Champion jockey Mark Zahra has ridden Observer to victory in the $2 million Victorian Derby to make it four wins at Flemington on Saturday.
Jumping as a short-priced favourite, Observer led the field from the early going and held firm down the straight to secure a comfortable victory.
Champion jockey Zahra, who copped a $1500 fine for not riding his mount to the finish in the Moonee Valley Vase, waited until the final 200m before letting his mount go and there was no stopping from that point.
Arcora briefly challenged but was never really in it to finish second, while Deal Done Fast completed the top three.
It was a fourth successive win on the day for in-form Zahra, who rode another Godolphin-owned horse, Tentyris, to victory in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
