STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There were nine reported vehicle thefts on Staten Island during the week of Oct. 20 through Oct. 26, according to NYPD data.
Despite the number, the amount of automobile thefts reported in the borough this year has gone down. Car thefts reported through Oct. 26 dropped 30% (199 vs. 286) when compared to the same period in 2024, according to the NYPD’s latest CompStat figures.
According to the database, 2021 was the last time car thefts in the borough were this low. The database indicates that nine cars were stolen on Staten Island between Oct. 20 and 26 — the most recent week for which statistics are available.

On Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., a car theft was reported at Richmond Terrace and Davis Avenue in New Brighton.
