CIMARRON HILLS, Colo. — A former Olympic hopeful was arrested on Wednesday after an Uber driver was found dead in a field in El Paso County.
El Paso County Sheriff's Office said 27-year-old Khayla Dawson was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 38-year-old Jeremy Campbell.
According to the arrest affidavit in the case, Campbell's father reported his son missing at 3:45 a.m. Oct. 27. He reported that his son left their home at 10 p.m. the night before and that he worked as an Uber driver.
Campbell's parents both tried to contact him and Uber, but were not able to reach either. They said it was unusual for Campbell, who was paralyzed on his right side, to not answer his phone, according t
