CHIEF MINISTER Bhupendra Patel on Saturday directed officials to conduct surveys of crop losses due to unseasonal rain and submit a report within three days.
The rainfall and change of weather caused by the depression in the Arabian sea has impacted the Kharif crops of groundnut, moong, soybean and urad, all of whose sale was to begin Saturday under the Minimum Support Price ( MSP ), but the government cancelled the procurement on account of the damage.
A government statement issued on Saturday said this kind of a situation where the state has faced unseasonal rains during the harvest season of Kharif crops, has not arisen in the past two decades and the state government is “determined” to help the farmers who could face immense damage to standing crops.
