NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- The Massachusetts State Police said two people were killed and two others were injured following a crash in New Bedford early Saturday morning.
Police said around 2 a.m., they were called to "a single-car crash with life-threatening injuries along Route 140 South at mile marker 2.1."
When troopers arrived on scene, the found the vehicle with significant damage off of the highway, with one the victims pronounced deceased on scene.
The three other people involved were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. One of the victims later passed away at the hospital.
The State Police Crash Analysis Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit are investigating the crash.
