LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Thousands of children across the region participated in the annual Halloween festivities, trick-or-treating in neighborhoods like Greenacre Avenue in Longmeadow.

The tradition on Greenacre Avenue is more than just a holiday celebration; it is a tribute to Maggie Brace, a beloved resident who started the tradition of carving unique pumpkins and displaying them around her home.

"I think it's a really great privilege these days that we can offer kids a town that's really safe and everybody is embracing," said Jill Strain of Longmeadow.

Maggie Brace, who passed away earlier this year, was known for her love of Halloween and her creative pumpkin designs that became a hallmark of the Greenacre Avenue celebration.
