LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
With federal funding for SNAP lapsing as of Nov. 1, Dare to Care President and CEO Vincent James says families across Kentucky and Indiana are waking up without benefits and without clear answers.
"It’s really, really challenging," James said. "To realize that people are waking up today, no benefits and not knowing where to go to get food … that’s what actually keeps me up at night."
According to the Associated Press, 41 million people rely on SNAP nationwide, including more than one million people across Kentucky and Indiana.
Yesterday, federal judges from Massachusetts and Rhode Island ruled that the Trump Administration must fund the program partially or fully in November.
Despite that, James says they're still in limbo, unclear how long that money will last, and
