Christopher Newport University remained unbeaten with a 49–42 victory over Montclair State on Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Stadium. The Captains broke a 35–35 tie with two fourth-quarter touchdowns and held off a late Red Hawk rally to extend their winning streak to 13 games dating back to last season.

With the win, CNU improved to 8–0 overall and 5–0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while Montclair State dropped to 3–5 overall and 2–3 in league play.

The Captains jumped out to a 21–8 first-half lead before Montclair State rallied to pull within one, 21–20, at halftime.
