HAVERFORD — Abington did everything but finish.
Chances to score are fleeting in soccer, especially in a championship game, so there’s always an added imperative to put a ball in the back of the net when the opportunity arises. The Ghosts had their chances against Haverford in the District 1 Class 4A boys title game Saturday, quite a few of them pretty high-quality, but it wasn’t their day to put them away.
The No. 4 Fords downed the No. 7 Ghosts 3-1 Saturday, Haverford scoring all its goals after halftime.
“They’re a great team, I give them a lot of credit for playing us well twice now,” Abington senior co-captain Sean Westmoreland said. “We couldn’t convert our chances and at the end of the day, if you don’t convert your chances, you’re not going to win.”
