Frost & Sullivan has awarded Fort Collins Utilities the Excellence in Resourcefulness — Energy award for how the city manages its grid resources to help meet affordability and climate goals, according to a news release.
This award highlights the utility’s leadership in creating a smarter, cleaner, and more cost-effective energy future for the Fort Collins community.
The city’s climate goals are to reach 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050, and it works with its customers to reduce their energy use.
The release stated that key successes include the rollout of Time-of-Use rates and a distributed energy resources management system (DERMS), which encourage shifting energy use to off-peak hours when electricity is cleaner and more affordable, the release stated.
