SUNLAND – Two men were killed, five other people were injured and at least 16 were displaced by a fire at a single-story house in Sunland, authorities said Sunday.
The fire was reported at 11:10 p.m. Saturday on the 10900 block of North Scoville Avenue, near Wentworth Street, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
It took 36 firefighters 30 minutes to extinguish.
Flames were showing when firefighters arrived at the 1,359-square-foot home, Stewart said. There were reports of trapped elderly occupants on the premises.
“During the fire attack, crews located one person and conducted a rapid transport to the hospital,” she said. “Two additional patients were located but were beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene.
