The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg released a statement Sunday responding to a Halloween parade float with imagery connected to the Holocaust that was entered in the Hanover Halloween Parade.
That parade took place on Thursday night.
“The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg is deeply disturbed by and unequivocally condemns the ignorant and upsetting display depicting the gates of the Auschwitz concentration camp at the Hanover Halloween Parade,” it wrote. “The depiction of these painful symbols - outside of an educational setting - is never acceptable. This incident sadly reflects the unsettling rise in hate, ignorance, and antisemitism in Pennsylvania and across the nation.”
The float was entered by the St. Joseph School in Hanover. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisbu
