OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - First Alert 6 went to two of the city’s twelve food drive locations days after Omaha’s mayor announced the drive to collect food for those who’ve lost access to SNAP benefits.
Bags upon bags of canned goods and other non perishable food items have already been collected. At the Elkhorn location alone, staff estimated to have collected at least 500 cans of food so far.
Donors have been steadily streaming into the city’s donation drop off sites since Wednesday. They felt it’s the least they can do to help others in need and that no one should have to go hungry.
The city’s food drive runs till Wednesday Nov. 5, the food collected will be given to Food Bank For the Heartland.
