DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A second man has been sentenced for shooting and killing a 72-year-old man in a Dolton failed carjacking, court documents show.

Carl Kosmos, 72, was shot and killed while he was sleeping in his car in August 2020.

David Johnson and co-defendant Treyante Maxwell tried to carjack Kosmos as he slept.

Kosmos tried to drive away but Johnson opened fire.

The 72-year-old was shot and died at the hospital, police said.

Both were charged with felony murder and aggravated vehicular hijacking.

More than five years after the shooting, Johnson pleaded guilty to murder. He received a sentence of 30 years, plus an additional three years for a separate armed robbery case.
