MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A Mooresville Police Department officer suffered minor injuries after a driver who was allegedly under the influence crashed into them, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, troopers responded to the crash on Mt. Ulla Highway. Officials said a 2012 Toyota Camry drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and then crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with an MPD officer in their patrol vehicle.
MPD said the officer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.
The driver of the Camry, 19-year-old Gabriel Matthew Cline, was also taken to a local hospital and was later cleared. Officials said he was then charged with driving while impaired, driving by a person
