CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Family and friends of a teen that was killed in a shooting in northwest Charlotte early Saturday morning are continuing to search for answers.
17-year-old Amari Cooper was a senior at West Charlotte High School, months away from graduation and she was a new mom. WBTV spoke with a family friend, Leondra Garrett, who says she wants her to be remembered for her positivity.
Early Saturday morning around 12:30, police say they were called to Old Plank Road. When they arrived, they say they found 17-year-old Amari Cooper with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she died. Garrett says when she heard from Cooper’s mom, she knew something was wrong.
“When I called, I could just tell on her face, that it was something going on,” she explains.
