CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - One horse was rescued and two horses were killed after a vehicle towing a horse trailer overturned Friday night in northwest Charlotte.
Just before 8:40 p.m. Friday, Charlotte firefighters arrived at Brookshire Boulevard near Lawton Road after the trailer overturned, sending it about 25 feet down an embankment.
The vehicle towing the trailer did not go down the embankment.
Three engine companies, one ladder company, a rescue company and two Urban Search and Rescue vehicles responded, the Charlotte Fire Department said.
Firefighters worked through the night to cut away parts of the overturned trailer and safely extricate the animals inside.
