CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte officials planned to officially introduce Estella Patterson, the for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, on Monday morning.
The introductory press conference was planned for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3.
Patterson’s hiring was announced on Friday, Oct. 31.
She will succeed Chief Johnny Jennings, who became chief in 2020 after joining the department in 1992.
Patterson’s policing career started with CMPD in 1996 and, most recently, she was chief of police for Raleigh Police Department.
