CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - As of Nov. 1, many people who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — or SNAP- benefits may have seen their funding paused. On Monday, Mecklenburg County announced plans to allocate funds to support people who rely on SNAP.

Local leaders announced on Monday, Nov. 3, that $740,000 will go toward helping food sources that support SNAP recipients. One mom of two spoke about the difference she believes the assistance will make and how she’s preparing in case the shutdown continues.

“Have spoken with various family members, learned about some other options, pantries, drive, and different things that are in the area that will probably have to begin using,” said mother Felicia Uzochukwu Ibeano.
