In September, Consumers Energy reached an agreement to sell 13 dams to Confluence Hydro, an affiliate of Hull Street Energy, LLC.
The approval request, sent to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), is the initial regulatory step for selling the dams.
Consumers Energy says that the sale will reduce long-term costs for customers and ensure that the dams will continue to "operate safely and provide economic and recreational benefits for nearby communities."
