Another SEC college football coach is out of a job, as Auburn officially fired Hugh Freeze. The news hit a day after the Tigers suffered a disappointing defeat in Saturday’s home game against the Kentucky Wildcats, 10-3.
He joined the school in 2023, after coaching for four seasons at Liberty. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported the news (via sources), indicating that Freeze's disappointing record was a significant reason behind his firing.
Freeze was 11-14 in his first two seasons with the school. He was 4-5 this season and 1-5 in the conference, seeming on pace for a third-straight losing season.
