Our Lady of Lourdes girls’ soccer coach Ricky Seipp didn’t hit the so-called panic button when his team started the season 0-4.

Instead, Seipp decided to focus on the positives. The Warriors played a tough schedule, and themselves are a perennial Section 9 power. Lourdes proved that once again with a 2-0 win over top-seeded New Paltz in the Class A championship game on Saturday at Wallkill High School.

Lourdes, the third-seed, defeated second-seeded Beacon 3-2 in the semifinals.

“I wasn’t really happy when we started 0-4,” Seipp said. “It could have easily defined our season and tested our confidence. To the girls’ credit, they pulled together, and what they accomplished from start to finish is remarkable. I am proud of them.”
