PUTNAM VALLEY- The Greater New York Blood Bank has received an infusion of the life saving liquid thanks to members of the Putnam Valley Fire Department.

A blood drive resulted in dozens of people rolling up their sleeves to donate and at its conclusion 116 pints were collected that included 92 whole blood donations and a dozen double red cell donations which equaled 24 pints.

Firefighter Bernie Mahoney and members of the department’s Blood Drive Committee thanked members of the community and department personnel for participating in the event that will save lives.
