DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions started hot on their first drive, then got a little sleepy, but woke up to salvage the first half against the Minnesota Vikings.
Cornerback Terrion Arnold, making his return after a two-game absence, picked a great time for his first-career interception. Arnold ripped the ball from wide receiver Jalen Nailor’s grasp, with the Vikings driving in the final minute before the half ended.
Detroit heads into halftime trailing the Vikings 17-14.
Tight end Sam LaPorta and Jared Goff were locked in on the game’s opening drive. The Lions quarterback found LaPorta three times for 66 yards, including a rough-and-tumble 40-yard touchdown catch on fourth-and-4 to open with a bang. LaPorta first took contact at about the 10-yard line, but refused to go down and got a push
