A hearing officer has issued recommendations in disciplinary proceedings against a Stoughton police deputy chief accused of misconduct in the case of Sandra Birchmore, though the state’s law enforcement watchdog said Thursday that it is keeping the proposal secret for now.
News that the hearing officer had made a decision coincided with the release of redacted video recordings from the closed-door adjudicatory proceedings for Robert C. Devine . On Thursday, the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission posted more than 14 hours of videos from the secret hearing to the agency’s YouTube page. Devine’s hearing took place over four days in June and July.
