AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas made a big leap in the Associated Press Top 25 after taking out previously No. 9 Vanderbilt in a 34-31 thriller Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The Longhorns jumped seven spots to No. 13 following the win, and the loss sent the Commodores down six spots to No. 15. The rise was tied with Utah and Oklahoma for the biggest gain in the poll. The Sooners took out Tennessee 33-27 to move to No. 11, and the Utes beat Cincinnati 45-14 to move to No. 17.
The top seven teams in the poll — Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Ole Miss — remained unchanged. BYU moved up two spots to No. 8, with Texas Tech moving up four spots to No. 9. Notre Dame rounded out the top 10.
