HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - In light of SNAP benefits being cut for millions of Americans, one Henderson organization is trying to aid those in need.
The Blue Dots of Henderson hosted a yard sale food giveaway at the Henderson JFK Center.
Organizers say when they realized SNAP benefits would be cut, they put together the event in just one week.
They say everything available was obtained through donations meant to give back.
Residents from around the area were able to get food, clothing, books, and more.
Officials say it’s events like this that motivate their group to keep going.
“I like that our little small community, we do have that. We can all come out together and really support, and get things people need, so I think it’s a great cause and I’m really thankful for it,” says Makiya Am
