SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Crews responded to a vegetation fire burning near State Route 2 and Highway 78 in the Shelter Valley area on Sunday afternoon, according to Cal Fire San Diego. • The FOX 5/KUSI video explains how to prepare for a wildfire emergency
The blaze, dubbed the "Scissors Fire," was first reported at around 2:30 p.m. and initially burned about two acres of brush at a moderate rate of spread. As of the latest update from Cal Fire, the fire had grown to 25 acres and continued to move at a moderate pace with 0% containment.
Officials say the fire has the potential to become an "initial attack fire," which refers to the immediate action taken by the first firefighting resources to arrive at a wildfire with the goal of containing or extinguishing it while it's still small.
