Passed bill authored by State Rep. Curtis J. Tarver, II seeks to ensure parents are informed about student discipline involving misconduct, promoting transparency and communication between schools and families, according to the Illinois General Assembly.

In the House, 76 Democrats and 38 Republicans voted in favor of the bill.

Meanwhile, in the Senate, 40 Democrats and 19 Republicans voted in favor of the bill.

Tarver introduced the bill in the Illinois House on Feb. 6, 2025 during the 104th session.

The legislation, known as HB3065, was passed on Oct. 31, 2025 during the general assembly session 104.
