Passed bill authored by State Sen. Mattie Hunter aims to amend the Property Tax Code to maintain reduced valuations for qualifying properties and ensure accessibility to special assessment programs regardless of county participation, according to the Illinois General Assembly.
In the House, 76 Democrats voted in favor of the bill, while 33 Republicans opposed it.
Meanwhile, in the Senate, 36 Democrats and 18 Republicans voted in favor of the bill.
Hunter introduced the bill in the Illinois Senate on Feb. 6, 2025 during the 104th session.
The legislation, known as SB1911, was passed on Oct. 31, 2025 during the general assembly session 104.
