PORTALND, Tenn. (WSMV) - A driver was arrested after officers found fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia in the car with a 3-year-old child in the back seat, according to the Portland Police Department.

PPD reports that officers recently conducted a traffic stop, and during the sop, the driver allegedly appeared nervous and denied a search.

Officers called a K-9 unit to the scene to sniff the vehicle. The K-9 found narcotics in the vehicle, PPD said.

During a search of the vehicle, officers reportedly found multiple syringes, a spoon, several baggies, and approximately 6.4 grams of fentanyl.

PPD said a 3-year-old was also in the back seat of the vehicle unsecured.
