DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) - The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is closely monitoring an uptick in deer movement this time of year, releasing daily ‘Rut Reports’ to help drivers and hunters stay informed during peak mating season.
“And obviously, deer don’t look both ways before they cross the street,” said Dodge County Sheriff’s Lt. Taylor Nehls.
That simple truth inspired the Dodge County Rut Report — a daily update from the sheriff’s office tracking deer movement and car-deer crashes during peak mating season.
“I myself am an avid hunter, and I felt like we had the inside scoop of when the most and best deer activity was going on,” Nehls said. “So it just came to the idea that, hey, we should pass some of this information on to one, make our roadways safer for people to know when the
