MEMPHIS, Tenn. - As the federal government shutdown continues, thousands of Mid-South families are already feeling the impact especially those relying on SNAP benefits.

Memphis City Councilwoman Jerri Green is urging Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee to take immediate action to help families struggling to afford groceries. Green sent a letter to the governor Friday morning calling for a temporary suspension of the state’s four-percent grocery tax every weekend until the shutdown ends.
