LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. —

South Carolina Highway Patrol says that one person is dead after hitting a tree.

Troopers say it happened Sunday morning at 5:25 a.m. on South Carolina Highway 56. They say the driver operating a Dodge Coop went off the right side of the road, hit a ditch and then hit a tree.

The coroner has not released the name of the driver.
