ARLINGTON, Texas — As the federal government shutdown stretches into its fifth week, air traffic controllers trying to get by without pay, raising concerns about safety in the skies.
Jack Criss, an air traffic controller who spent most of his career at Dallas Love Field before relocating to the Washington, D.C. area last year for his 15-year-old daughter, now works a second job with DoorDash to keep food on the table.
"I don't want to sit down and map out how long I can go. That would probably cause me more anxiety," Criss said.
He is one of thousands of federal workers reporting to work without paychecks, a situation he warns could have serious consequences.
