DENTON, Texas — A quiet Denton neighborhood woke up to flashing lights and police tape early Sunday after a deadly overnight shooting involving four police officers.

Neighbors on Oxford Lane said they were startled to find their street blocked off by investigators. Zachariah Mickler-Sandoval said his family somehow slept through the sound of gunfire that ended a man’s life just two houses away.

“We were all asleep, even the baby slept through it,” he said.

Mickler-Sandoval recalled stepping outside to see police everywhere.

“The cop really didn’t let us know what’s going on,” he said.

According to Denton police, officers were called at about 3:55 a.m. after reports of a man firing shots into unoccupied vehicles.

When officers arrived, they said the man began shooting toward them. O
