A Perth mother who stabbed her daughter's teenage boyfriend after thinking he was an intruder when she found him semi-naked in the family home, has avoided a prison sentence.
Jennifer Mui Len Chin, 49, admitted stabbing the 14-year-old in her Parkwood home in October 2023, after finding him hiding under a doona in a bedroom.
But she claimed she did not know the teen had been invited into her house by her daughter and was only trying to protect her family from someone she feared was a naked armed stranger.
Chin was found guilty of causing bodily harm in August, and in the District Court today she was handed a three year jail term, suspended for two years.
It meant she was able to avoid an immediate term of imprisonment, and walked out of the court building on Monday with her lawyer.
