BEAUMONT, Texas — A Southeast Texas bakery brought people together Sunday to celebrate family, community, and culture during its annual Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, festival.
Dozens gathered at Super Antojo de Hidalgo Bakery in Beaumont to honor loved ones who have passed and to share traditions that connect generations. The event featured local vendors, dance performances, and a community altar — all designed to highlight the meaning behind the holiday.
“It’s the Day of the Dead — if you forget about your people, your loved ones, they disappear,” said Abraham Martinez, owner of Laura Abe’s Ice Cream Truck, one of the small businesses taking part in the festival. “We build an altar for all our loved ones who have died.
