US President Donald Trump has renewed his attack on New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling him a "communist" and asserting that he's a far better looking person than him.

In a teaser clip of his interview on CBS 60 Minutes on Sunday night, Trump was asked whether Mamdani was a left-wing version of him.

"Some people have compared him to a left-wing version of you — charismatic, breaking the old rules. What do you think about that?" correspondent Norah O'Donnell asked. To this, Trump replied, saying, "Well, I think I'm a much better looking person than him."

He stressed that he preferred to call Mamdani a "communist", asserting that he's "far worse than a socialist".
