IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The top-ranked Iowa women’s wrestling team started their 2025 campaign with dominant shutout victories, defeating Central College 44-0 and Cornell College 43-0.

The Hawkeyes earned bonus points in every single match, showcasing the depth and talent that has them ranked No. 1 in the country.

Redshirt junior Reese Larramendy go on the mat for two matches, despite getting only about two hours of sleep. Less than 24 hours before the dual at Carver, Larramendy competed at the NWCA All-Star Classic in New Jersey.

“(I) had to get up at 3:30, get to the airport, got here about 40 minutes before weigh-ins and weighed in and did it,” said Larramendy, who is ranked No. 2 in the country at 145 pounds. “So yeah it was a fun day.”
