According to the Omaha Community Foundation, with more than 259,000 residents concerned about their next meal, food insecurity across our region has reached its highest level in years. Monumental changes to federal nutrition programs, particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), are impacting how families can receive access to food.

66,000 children and 17,000 seniors projected to lose partial or full SNAP benefits
155,000 people statewide affected by state cost-sharing changes
7,000–15,000 refugees and mixed-status residents expected to lose eligibility
10,000–20,000 working adults aged 55–64 affected by new work-reporting rules
10–15 % projected rise in charitable food demand by early 2026
