With even Republicans acquiescing to the fact that California voters are set to redraw the state’s U.S. House districts for the 2026 midterms, the passage of Proposition 50 in Tuesday’s special election could result in a third LGBTQ member of Congress hailing from Southern California. They would join the current gay members of the Golden State’s congressional delegation who are expected to easily win reelection under the new maps for their seats.
