Fire crews were called to the scene of a derelict hotel fire in Coventry on Sunday afternoon (2 November). It is the second time the former Allesley Hotel has been ablaze in less than two weeks .

Crews from across Coventry, including Canley and the city centre station, rushed to Birmingham Road just after 2.30pm. Firefighters managed to tackle the flames, with further checks carried out the following morning. The cause of the fire has not been confirmed at this stage.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to reports of smoke and fire at a derelict hotel on Birmingham Road at 2.33pm on Sunday. At the height of the fire we had five pumps at the scene.

"There is a crew revisiting the site this morning (3 November) just to make sure the fire is out. The
