GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Therapists in the Upstate said they’ve seen a surge in the demand for child therapy services. They said multiple factors, including the current political climate, are driving the spike.
7NEWS spoke with Shekina Adams, who is a licensed therapist at ThriveWorks in Greenville. She said counselors have seen more than a 20 percent increase in the demand for child therapy services in the last two years.
"Seeking help early or getting that early intervention is very, very important because sometimes it can be just something literal. [Children] can talk it out and move on. Right. But if that thing stays there, it can lead to more chronic depression. It can lead to chronic anxiety. So, noticing this thing, intentionality is crucial,” Adams explained.
