WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — Three former Washington County deputies who were accused of Tasing a man to death on the side of the road are heading to trial — for the second time.
Eurie Martin died after a 911 call reported he had been trespassing on their land. The reason, according to court records, was to fill up a Coke bottle with water on a hot summers day.
Video showed three deputies surrounding Martin, who refused to comply with the deputy's orders. That's when a deputy tased him in the back, sending him to the ground.
He would be tased 15 times over the course of 16 minutes, according to court records.
The case went to trial in 2021 for the first time. But after 18 hours of deliberation, the jury told the judge they couldn't reach a unanimous verdict on any of the charges ag
