DENVER (KDVR) — Drivers who frequently travel around the Alameda Avenue and Santa Fe Drive intersection in Denver may want to plan a different route next week.

The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway is planning on replacing railroad tracks on Santa Fe Drive just north of Cedar Avenue, closing Santa Fe Drive there for five days from Monday, Nov. 10 at 4 a.m. to Friday, Nov. 14 a 5 p.m., according to a city of Denver press release.

The track replacement is needed "in the interest of public safety," BNSF told the city, according to the press release, and the closure will cause delays and congestion in the area along Alameda Avenue.
